Confusing 404 When Adding Google Docs

I tried to add some documents from my Google drive into memory. All attempts resulted in a surprising 404 document not found - when I'd just clicked on it. Took me a while to register the visual showing 4 types of documents and realizing that I'd tried to add a google document (gdoc) instead of a PDF, txt, doc, or ... (don't remember that one). Would help if the error message was more informative. Note that I worked around it by downloading the gdocs as PDFs and uploading those.
